Psychotherapy Services

A mental illness is a condition that affects a person’s thinking, feeling and mood and often impacts proper daily functioning and his or her ability to relate to other people. A mental health condition is often not just a result of a single event but is rather rooted in multiple interlocking factors such as genetics, biochemical processes, childhood experiences, environment, lifestyle and any trauma involved. Different people will experience these life conditions in their own ways, but the direct cause of most mental illnesses is unknown.

With all the modern advances in mental health and counseling advocacy, there is still some stigma attached to mental illness, many people are undiagnosed and shy away from seeking help, scared to address many painful issues buried inside for years or to be exposed to their family or community. In reality, mental illnesses are no different from physical ones and require the same careful evaluation and diligent care, and are structured on the same continuum of severity ranging from mild to moderate to the most severe. And, just like physical ailments, some will only last for a period of time, such as grief issues or stress related to losing a job, other ones are often cyclical, such as anxiety and certain types of depression, they will require periodic care during the times when the most critical factors are exacerbated, and, yet other conditions, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder are life-long and necessitate continuous mental health care and interventions.

As a mental health practitioner, I provide a safe environment to explore many issues affecting your psyche, daily functioning and relationships with your close people. I work with different psychodynamic, insight-oriented and cognitive-behavioral modalities to create a psychotherapeutic plan based on inter-personal resolutions and accountability.

I provide individual and couple therapy to adults and older adults. Also, on a case by case basis, I will accept an older adolescent (high school and older) who are willing to engage into extensive talk therapy and whose issues are appropriate to my expertise.

I can also provide telemedicine psychotherapy sessions via video-conferencing to home bound clients or those unable to travel due to medical or mental conditions. Many major insurances now reimburse for telehealth services, please contact your insurance carrier to inquire if such services are reimbursed prior to engaging into telemedicine sessions.
